Flags to fly at half-staff in honor of officer struck by lightning in Joplin

By order of Governor Jay Nixon, all flags at all State and government offices will be flown at half-staff statewide on Wednesday, June 8, from sunrise until sunset in honor of Master Patrolman Jefferson "Jeff" Taylor, who died in the line of duty serving the citizens of Joplin in the wake of the tornado that devasted the city on Sunday, May 22.

Taylor was a police officer with the Riverside Police Department. He was injured when the ground near him was struck by lightning on Monday, May 23. He died on Friday, June 3, at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield, where he was being treated for his injuries.
